There was real debate substance after the initial hour of silliness.

  • 4/18 Wrap: I disagree with Robinson. Even when debating issues of substance, the moderators phrased questions in a manner that conveyed Democratic weakness on the issues (this is my highly subjective judgement). Gibson’s mangling of capital gains tax history/reality was especially egregious.

As the contest winds down, many PA voters are still undecided.

McCain differs with Bush on the journalistic federal shield law (McCain supports it).

  • 4/17 Wrap: Too many levels of subtext and irony in the Novak piece.

Clinton can only win with negativity, and attacking Barack’s “bitter” comments is her last chance to seize victory.

Obamaism, as revealed in the bitter comments, tells Americans that he’s above their petty concerns.

  • 4/16 Wrap: Bittergate, bittergate, bittergate…I weirdly agreed with some parts of George F. Will’s B-gate assault from the 15th. Dems must focus on appealing to middle and lower class voters with economics policy, not “values” posturing.

Obama’s “bitter” comment reveals him to be a condescending “modern liberal,” one who looks down upon the masses and blames them for a false understanding of their problems.

Clinton’s disingenuous appeals for working class votes are more patronizing than what Obama said.

Clinton’s attack on Obama’s “bitter” comments is more patronizing than the comments themselves.

Obama’s gaffe, combined with Hillary’s ensuing assault, will make it easier for the Republicans into conning the public again.

  • 4/15 Wrap: Four, count em’ FOUR bittergate editorials. “Revealing” gaffes are all that matters to our mainstream pundits. God forbid we analyze issues (I know I sound like a bitter, broken record).

Penn may be a destructive force, but Clinton is wedded to him due to loyalty and money (she owes him a lot of it).

Obama should abide opt for public financing like he claimed he would (under the circumstances that the Republican nominee chooses to opt for public financing).

4/14 Wrap: Boring campaign pseudo insiderness from Novak. That’s expected.

Obama is stuck on criticizing past mistakes, while McCain focuses on future solutions.  The Iraq issue might reveal Obama to be “weak” and McCain “strong.”

  • 4/10 Wrap: If you’re looking to Fred Kagan of the AIE for info on Iraq, I have a wonderful bridge to sell to you.  It’s in Basra and will eventually be built with future soaring oil profits…

Obama is having the Dukakis problem of failing in “race chasm” states (states with neither large nor small black populations). He needs to do more to fix this.

Penn was ousted because the Democratic party is tied to protectionist Unions. This is a senseless policy.

Mark Penn failed in more respects than one. He presided over a disorganized, antiquated, arrogant, non-grassroots campaign.

Presidents often govern like they campaign, and Obama has campaigned brilliantly. He could be hindered by self righteousness if he wins, though.
4/8 Wrap: I, like Will, am an anti protectionist. I feel that he’s overstating the problem of American protectionism, but it is a concern of mine. My hope is that the Dems will advocate more welfare state policies to offset job displacement.
